Taylor is living in a “super-size me” world. The Jones family often consumes large fast food meals because of convenience and low cost. These meals are high in calories and processed sugars and fat, which can lead to obesity and type 2 diabetes when combined with a lack of physical activity.

Each year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) compiles statistics on the leading causes of death. In 2017, type 2 diabetes accounted for 83,564 deaths, and according to the American Diabetes Association, cost the U.S. $327 billion per year. But Taylor does not have to end up as another statistic. As a member of Taylor’s healthcare team your job is to help the 15-year-old manage his type 2 diabetes and lifestyle choices. With the other members of Taylor’s care team, use the myStation® PowerPoint presentation to review his condition and treatment, develop a plan to help Taylor manage (and possibly reverse) his type 2 diabetes and avoid medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

In addition to Taylor’s story, the following resources may be helpful in developing the myStation® PowerPoint presentation:
